St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP)
The SVP is an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need. Active in England & Wales since 1844, it has long been a feature of Catholic life in Basildon.
Groups meet at both Holy Trinity and St Therese, with the hope of beginning a group at St Basil’s. Through fundraising and donations the SVP help families most in need by providing furniture, emergency help, and access to a variety of holiday schemes so that families can holiday together and so that children can have a holiday they may not get any other way; notably we support children attending the St John Bosco Children’s Camp, near Colchester, each summer.
